2000 TOP COMPANIES

Forbes, the US magazine

is released the worlds top 2000 companies by its wealth and best practices. Indian companies like RIL, SBI, ONGC are ranked 121st, 150th, and 152nd respectively.


Few of the indian companies like satyam computers, Unitech reality, suzlon energy and reliance power, reliance capital (anil ambani group) ADAG group, are dropped from the fresh list


Other indian companies like Hero Honda, Sun pharma, Indian bank, Jindal steel and power ltd were added to the new list.

2000 companies list is topped by General Electric, followed by Dutch oil and gas major Royal Dutch Shell, Japan's Toyota Motor, ExxonMobil and UK's BP. In order.


The Indian presence is almost evenly divided among private and state-run companies. While none of the Indian companies have managed to find a place among the top 100 firms this year as well, the elite club includes a firm run by person of Indian origin.


Lakshmi Mittal-headed steel behemoth ArcelorMittal is at 41st position. However, Vikram Pandit-run banking giant Citigroup has dropped to 472nd rank this year.
Further, Indra Nooyi-run beverage major PepsiCo has been ranked 115th and Indian origin Francisco D'Souza-headed Cognizant Technology Solutions is at 1,389th place. Motorola, headed by Sanjay Jha, is at 658th place.


According to Forbes, the Global 2,000 companies have combined revenue of $32 trillion, $1.6 trillion in profit, $125 trillion in assets and $20 trillion in market capitalisation.
